A friend of Emily, Darin and Michelle has had a incredible challenge this last week. Her little girl, not yet 2, choked on a piece of apple that lodged in her lung and had to be life flighted to Primary Children's Hospital. Little Lucy had stopped breathing for 20 minutes, when the doctors were able to revive her. She has been in a coma and on life support for the last few days. After many tests to see what damage had been done to her small little body, they found severe brain damage. Molly and her husband Vic had to make the decision to take little Lucy off life support . Little Lucy went on her journey yesterday. She is now dancing and singing her favorite "Peter Pan" songs in heaven. Molly and Vic are at peace. What courageous parents and people they are.
I am so very thankful that this is one trial I have not had to experience in life. It has made me so grateful for each of our children and grandchildren and their precious lives. I am blessed to know that each of our grandchildren have such wonderful parents who love and treasure them.
I am sharing this story with all of you, because it has really had an impact on my life. I want you to know that I treasure each moment with you and know how precious your life is. Each hug will have more meaning to me. Every kindness will not go unnoticed.
Everything we experience with each other has such great meaning. It is so very important that our relationships with others are always full of love and understanding. What a sacred opportunity we have to be responsible for others...and when tragedies happen, know we have loved completely and have no regrets.
I love you Molly, Vic and Lucy. Your story has made my heart heavy with sadness. Your example has had lasting influence on my life. I pray for your continued peace and comfort.
